The first time you
came accross email was probably via Netscape Messenger,
Outlook Express,
Eudoramail or another similiar sounding email
client.
When you send an email to somebody, it goes from
your computer over the Internet to a computer
that handles the email by storing it in a mailbox,
ready to pick up for the person you sent the email
to. |

| I cannot send email
|
If you are a customer
of ours and see the message:
"Remote host said: 550 <xxxxx@yourdomain.com>
Use your dialin provider's SMTP server," then
you could be using our outgoing (SMTP) mail server
wrongly. We only accept outgoing email messages
from customers we can identify. This means that
you must either use a standard dial-up connection
like fairBroadband or the email address we have provided
our Braodband customers with.
Either ourselves or the ISP you are with has provided
you with an SMTP server to use; normally this
will be smtp.yourisp.net, but check your ISP's
instruction for configuring your email. Our customers
need to use smtp.fairadsl.co.uk. |

alias@fairadsl.co.uk email? |
Assuming that you
have signed up for the email address alias@fairadsl.co.uk,
and your password is abc123. You download your
mail from our POP3 server.
Its' address is mail.fairadsl.co.uk.
Your username on this server is "alias@fairadsl.co.uk".
Your password is abc123. Your email address and
your reply address is alias@fairadsl.co.uk. |

Outlook Express
Other mail clients behave in similar ways. For
instance, most versions of Outlook or Entourage
on the Mac can be configured in pretty much the
same way as Outlook
Express. |

| How do I check
my email over the web? |
You can check anyname@fairadsl.co.uk
email address from our web-based email system.
Go to http://mail.fairadsl.co.uk:1000/
and log in with your Full fairBroadband email address
and password (your mail password). This allows
you to check your email. |

| How many email
addresses do I get from fairBroadband? |
You get up to 10
email address with fairBroadband.
